Meet Rachel Gunn, LPC-MHSP

I’m a Nashville-based therapist specializing in anxiety, OCD, trauma, & perinatal mental health. I help young adults who are struggling to set boundaries, engage in self-care, and feel drained from the way life is lifing start to feel more centered, confident, and connected with themselves.

Your needs matter. It’s time to invest in yourself.

A GENTLE REMINDER:

Self-care is not selfish. It’s self-love.

At the core, my approach to therapy is person-centered, relational, and authentic.

I value genuine human connection and believe that relationships hold the key to healing and fulfillment in life. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel both supported and challenged to grow. My goal is to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself while building the tools and confidence to move forward.

I show up with compassion, nonjudgment, warmth, and encouragement. I blend multiple therapy modalities, including psychodynamic, person-centered, relational, IFS, and CBT for many of the issues my clients face. For those with OCD, I utilize Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold standard treatment for OCD. I am also trained in Somatic & Attachment-Focused EMDR (SAFE EMDR), used for those who are experiencing distress related to past trauma.

If you want a therapist who down-to-earth and relatable — I’m your gal.

Still have questions? Send me a message.

  • COLLABORATIVE & INDIVIDUALIZED

You're the expert on your own life — I'm here to help you make sense of it. We'll work together to figure out what you actually need, not follow a one-size-fits-all formula. Your goals, your pace, your process.

  • GENUINE & HUMAN

I'm not a blank slate behind a notepad. I bring my full self into this work — warmth, humor when it fits, and a real belief that the relationship between us is part of what makes therapy work. You'll never feel like you're talking to a wall.

  • HONEST & TRUSTWORTHY

This is a space where you'll always know where you stand. I believe the most meaningful growth happens when there's real trust between us — so I'll be genuine with you, hold what you share with care, and never say something just because it's easy to hear.

  • INTROSPECTIVE & COMPASSIONATE

I take seriously how hard it is to sit with the parts of yourself you'd rather avoid — and I'll never rush you past them. This is a space where we slow down enough to actually look at what's going on beneath the surface, with curiosity instead of judgment.

My Background

  • I previously conducted psychological evaluations as a certified psychological assistant, under the supervision of a psychologist, from 2016 until 2024. I have also instructed undergraduate level courses in abnormal psychology, developmental psychology, and theories of personality at a local university from 2020 until 2023.

  • I am trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold standard for OCD treatment.

I am trained in Somatic and Attachment-Focused Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (SAFE EMDR), a method that is used to alleviate trauma-related distress.

I am trained in perinatal mental health and am currently pursuing certification as a perinatal mental health provider.

Additionally, I am an IFS-informed clinician.

  • I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Tennessee with 7 years of experience in working with both children and adults addressing issues such as anxiety, OCD, relationship challenges, depression, trauma, and major life transitions. I became fully licensed as an LPC-MHSP in 2021

  • I am a member of both Postpartum Support International and the International OCD Foundation.

  • In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my children, partner, friends, and now - two new kittens, Muppet & Phoebe! I love to explore my creative side through various forms of art, trying my hand at a challenging puzzle, seeing a new broadway show at TPAC, and baking something new to share with my loved ones. I also enjoy spending time in nature when I can, such as hiking, going to the lake, camping, and being around horses.

You deserve to make yourself a priority.
